Winter in Moab is a peaceful and beautiful time of year with snow patches on the red rock formations and almost no crowds. It is a great time of year to see Moab’s beauty and explore the canyons and national parks all around Moab. In this blog we will share some of our favorite winter recreation around Moab.
Moab is home to some of the most beautiful red rock formations, canyons, and arches in the world. Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are world-famous and visitors come from all over the world to see these beautiful natural canyons and formations. Due to this fame and notoriety there are certain times of year that these national parks can get very crowded. Winter is a great time of year to visit these national parks and avoid the crowds. Visitors that want to see this amazing scenery in peace and quiet should visit these national parks from January to March. During this time of year visitors will also get the rare opportunity to see these red rock arches and formation with snow on them and get beautiful pictures of the white snow on the red arches and canyons.
Mountain biking around Moab is also very well-known and the Moab area has some of the best mountain biking trails in the United States. Bikers come from all over the world to bike the trails winding around Moab and the surrounding canyons and experience the exhilarating mountain bike trails and iconic views of the red rock arches and formations on their bikes. Bikers will find the winter to be less crowded on the trails around Moab and the weather to be more mild. Winter is a little chilly around Moab, but hikers and mountain bikers that dress warm will find the winter temperatures to be great for hiking and mountain biking and much more comfortable than the hot summer months.
Jeeping and OHV/ATV riding is also a favorite outdoor activity around Moab. Winter is a great time of year to drive the roads and trails around Moab in your jeep or OHV. The cooler winter temperatures are great for jeeping around Moab and the crowds are gone for the winter. During the hot summer months riding these trails can be hot and dusty and there can be big crowds during the summer months. The winter months are a much more comfortable temperature and the jeep trails and canyon roads are very quiet. Those visitors that don’t have their own jeeps can rent a jeep or hire a guide in Moab.
